Launched in May 2000, Searchwho.com is an Oracle based metacrawler
search engine that simultaneously pulls top ranking search results from the webs most popular search engines. Presently,
there are over 60 metacrawler agents available that provide users a number of search options including not just general
Web searches but also more focused search results for other categories: Business & Finance, News, Health, Jobs, Music, MP3, Computing,
Sports, etc.
In addition, our web directory of sites, directory.searchwho.com, consists
of 2,000,000+ links in over 300,000+ categories using data taken from the Open Directory Project. However, this portion
of the site is primarily only used for helping to suppliment our general traffic.
New Metacrawler Technology
Our backend metasearch environment consists of multiple Compaq Proliant servers with Dual CPU's 1Gig RAM 10,000 RPM SCSI drives,
Apache 1.3.x, Oracle v8.1.7, running on Linux. In April, 2001 we set aside a few days and totally redesigned our core search technology. Each aspect of the newly designed metacrawl process was written with the highest degree of parallelism in mind so we could avoid any kind of multiuser bottleneck. In addition, we've also created new load balancing and cache management modules that have performed much better than expected.

Full-Text Search Engine
Work has begun on an entirely new full-text search engine. Although very different
from the metacrawler technology of the Searchwho project, it will likewise be completely scalable.
In 2002, we began testing with a few small industry specific search engine projects, like
DrivingPoint.com which will focus on the automotive
sector and TravelHat.com to help visitors find those unique
travel destinations.
