  • Create Your Own Search Engine Page - For FREE
    Would you like to have your very own search engine? In just a few minutes you can create your own search engine using our FREE JSearch javascript plugin shown here:

     <script language="javascript"
        src="http://www.searchwho.com/meta/jsearch.pl">
     </script>

    Demo page: http://www.spinavenue.com/jsearch.html

    This is a very powerful script! Don't be fooled by its small size. Adding these three lines of javascript to one of your web pages gives you a real fully featured search engine with results displayed right from your pages. Some of the major highlights for the plugin are:

    • Enables all of the SearchWho search types (web, news, health, etc.)
    • Wrap your own custom HTML around the script to match the look and feel of your web site.
    • Search Results displayed on YOUR page. Visitors never leave your site.
    • Users can e-mail search results to themselves or a friend.
    • Results can be sorted by relevance, title, or engine.
    • Access to over 60+ web sources.
    • No setup required.

    Getting Started
    To help you see how easy and powerful this plugin can be, simply copy the sample HTML shown below and save it a test file on your webserver. Then view the file with your browser and enter a search term (i.e.- dogs):

    <html>
    <body>
     <script language="javascript"
       src="http://www.searchwho.com/meta/jsearch.pl">
     </script>
    </body>
    </html>

    Demo page: http://www.spinavenue.com/jsearch.html - be sure to view the source

    The next step will be to create some HTML that reflects the current look and feel of your website and wrap that code around our javascript. This is a relatively new feature from the search tools development group so please be sure to send us your feedback if you have any questions or comments.

    Color Control - The default javascript shown above defaults to colors suitable for a white background. However, if you would like to alter the colors for a different background you can define different colors with the additional parameters shown here (Only use hex color codes and do not include the pound symbol '#'):

    src="jsearch.pl?text=ffff00&url=009000&&engine=009000"

    Text refers to the description of the link. URL refers to the visible url not the clickable link. Engine refers to the color of the search engine sources we pulled the data from. For links and general page text these values are defined in the body tag of your page.

    Important Notes:

    • The javascript plugin will not work correctly unless you view it from a page served up by your web server. Accessing it like a raw file as in "file:///c|temp/test.html" or "c:\temp\test.html" will not work. A web server delivered page provides a somewhat different environment to the browser. This environment contains information about the pages context used by the JSearch engine on our servers.
    • JSearch is not designed for high traffic web sites. It is only intended for lower traffic sites that may submit a few hundred searches per day. Higher traffic sites that need quicker performance and a greater level of customization are invited to visit our Custom Solutions Page.
